Messages (chat)

Direct messages, groups and class-wide chats.

Messages is the in-app chat center. It updates in real time, with three kinds of conversation.

  • Direct messages — one-to-one with another member who has an account.
  • Groups — pick several teachers to chat together; use "New group".
  • Class chats — open a class-wide conversation from a class’s "Message class" link.

Sending a message

  1. Open Messages and pick a person, group or class from the left.
  2. Click a person’s name to open the conversation and see their profile at the same time.
  3. Type in the message box and send. New messages appear live.

Messaging a student privately

Owners and teachers can DM a student one-to-one — click the student and start the conversation (they need an account to receive it). Students, on their side, open a private chat with any of their teachers or classmates the same way, by clicking a person.

Note: Unread conversations show a red count badge next to the name. Messages is included on every plan.
