Roles & permissions

Everyone in Classable sees a surface tailored to their role.

The default roles

Role	Can do
Owner	Manage the org, invite teachers, create classes and subjects, import students, see all reports and timesheets.
Teacher	Run sessions, take attendance, see reports for the classes/subjects they teach, chat, share materials.
Student	Check in by scanning, see own attendance, timetable and report; chat.
Parent	Read-only access to their child's report via an access code — no account needed.

Editable capability matrix

Permissions aren't fixed. Each organization has an editable capability matrix, and you can override permissions down to an individual member. Open Roles & Access to tailor exactly what each role — or person — can do.

Roles & Access and the audit log are included on every plan, and Sign in with Google is available to everyone.

Multiple schools

A teacher can be a member of several organizations with different roles and switch between them from the workspace switcher.
