Student accounts and the student view

Give a student their own login, and what a student can (and cannot) see.

A student on your roster can also have their own account, so they can sign in and follow their own progress. Giving a student an account is optional — many schools keep students account-free and only staff sign in.

What a student sees

A signed-in student sees only their own data: their attendance, their marks and reports, and their timetable. They can never see another student’s record, a class roster, or any staff-only screen. Because of this, students appear only on the Students roster and never on the Teachers page.

Giving a student a login

A student links their account with a one-time claim code you provide (kept separate from the low-security check-in code, and never shown in the roster list). Once claimed, the student signs in like anyone else — with a password or with Google.

Note: Student is a real role granted by the school. A student can never promote themselves; only an Owner changes roles.
