Run QR & kiosk attendance
Start a live session, show the rotating QR on any screen, and let students check in by scanning — no proxies.
Classable attendance uses a QR a student scans on the way in — validated against the live session so it can't be gamed. New schools start with a static code; you can switch to a rotating code (for the whole school, or just one session) whenever you want extra anti-sharing protection.
Start a session
- Choose Start session and pick the class (and subject).
- The session goes live and a rotating QR appears.
- Show the QR on a kiosk, your laptop, or your phone — any screen works.
How students check in
Students open the app's camera and scan the code. The server accepts the scan only if the token is current and the session is live, then marks them present in real time.
A rotating code changes on an interval you choose (minimum 30 seconds; we recommend at least a minute), so a screenshot shared with a friend is stale before it arrives. This is the core anti-fraud mechanism.
Manual marking & excuses
- Mark anyone from the class list manually — ideal for students without a phone.
- Statuses: present, late, absent, excused, each with its source (QR / manual) and timestamp.
- A student can request that an absence be excused; you approve it and the status updates.
End the session
Choose End session to record the end time. Worked hours for teachers are derived automatically from held sessions.
Want a rotating code or custom styling? Set the default QR mode in Settings, switch a single session from its kiosk, or open the QR Studio for frame styles and colors.
