Why the input scale is 0–100 or 0–10
Where the maximum mark comes from and how it changes entry.
The highest mark you can enter depends on your school’s grading system. The gradebook shows the range next to the mark field, e.g. "Mark (0–100)".
- International Default uses a 0–10 scale — marks are entered and shown as numbers directly.
- Letter-grade systems (United States, United Kingdom, Europe) use a 0–100 scale, because their grade bands are defined on a percentage scale.
- A custom system uses whatever maximum score you set.
Marks are always stored as the raw number you type. The grading system only changes how that number is displayed (as a letter, points, or the number itself) and how averages and GPA are calculated.
